‘London Stansted Travel Show’ brings agents and airlines together

Summary
  • 300 guests attended the first London Stansted Travel Show
  • Airlines including Emirates, Primera Air and Ryanair met with region’s agents
  • Incentives were announced including £4000 reward for top Primera sales

Travel agents from across the East of England and London gathered at London Stansted yesterday, at the airport’s first dedicated travel trade event since its acquisition by MAG in 2013.

Offering the chance to meet airlines, discover new destinations and hear from a range of speakers, almost 300 guests attended the exhibition at the Radisson Blu hotel on Tuesday (20 Feb).

London Stansted showcased the airport’s growing routes network – over 200 destinations for summer 2018 - including the recently announced daily Emirates to Dubai service and all the onward connections this opens up to passengers from across the region.

Agents had the chance to meet with representatives from new airlines including Emirates, Primera Air and Air Corsica, while 14 other carriers including Jet2.com and Ryanair were on hand to talk about the new and existing destinations they serve from the UK’s fourth busiest airport.

Also at the event, Primera Air launched a trade incentive promotion for bookings on their routes to New York, Boston, Washington and Toronto from London Stansted. During the three incentive periods between now and July, agents who book flights on the Primera Air Agent Portal have a chance to win a top cash prize of £4,000 for each incentive period, with a runner up prize of £2,000 for each period.

We’ve had a great opportunity to participate in London Stansted Airport Trade event on Tuesday, and we thank the team for having us there. We’ve truly enjoyed a well-organised and brilliantly planned event.

This was an amazing occasion to meet all our top exciting and potential business partners from the region, discuss business possibilities and hear a lot of valuable comments and feedback on Primera Air product. I hope this event will become a nice annual tradition and a great place to meet your airport and trade partners.
Anastasija Visnakova, Chief Commercial Officer of Primera Air
We are delighted so many agents from across the region came together with so many airlines, allowing us to showcase the ever-growing offer from London Stansted. The past year has seen some significant route and airline announcements and the travel trade event was a fantastic way to celebrate this and update the travel trade community on this recent growth at Stansted and our plans for the year ahead.
Mats Sigurdson, Aviation Director at London Stansted Airport

Steve Cox, Sales Manager from Premier Travel in Bishop’s Stortford, said events like these are essential for building valuable business links between the airport and local travel businesses:

The launch of new long-haul routes from London Stansted from names such as Emirates and Primera will open up a large number of destinations to people in the region, providing a gateway to the Far East and America. For the first time, holidaymakers will be able to travel from their local airport on to popular hot spots such as Dubai, Thailand, Bali, New York, and even Australia. We enjoyed the chance to meet the airlines to see how we can develop more interest for these destinations, and it offered a great opportunity to learn more about these new partners.
Steve Cox, Sales Manager from Premier Travel

Impressive prizes supplied by the airport’s retail partners and airlines were up for grabs by attendees on the night. These included Apple gadgets from Dixons Travel, designer handbags from Mulberry and a grand prize of an all-inclusive trip to New York.
