Drive-in movies touch down for Christmas

A series of Christmas blockbuster movies will be shown on the big screen as a charity drive-in cinema arrives at London Stansted next month.

Special screenings of classic films will be shown up to twice a day on a huge LED screen from Friday December 1 until Friday December 8 at the airport’s JetParks car park.

Films being shown include Elf, Frozen, Home Alone, Barbie, Grease, Die Hard, Maverick, The Polar Express, Chicken Run and Dirty Dancing.

When guests arrive, they will receive a personal speaker that broadcasts the movie audio, while food and mobile popcorn sellers will also be available to enhance the cinema experience.

All proceeds from the screenings will go to the airport’s three charity partners - Medcare, Magic Breakfast, and the Children's Society.

Paul Garnett, London Stansted’s Car Park and Ancillaries Director, said:

“I hope people of all ages can come along to the airport and get into the festive spirit as we host our first drive-in cinema. We will be showing up to two films a day, and we will have food trucks and popcorn sellers on-site so that customers can have the ultimate cinema experience. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to the airport's three wonderful charity partners, Medcare, Magic Breakfast, and the Children's Society.”

Tickets go on sale for £35 per car on Friday, Nov 10, and can be booked here.
