Fast track to the Dolomites with new direct flight

Skiers from the region will have quick and easy access to one of Europe's finest ski areas in the Dolomites thanks to a new service from London Stansted.

Italian airline, SkyAlps, has announced flights to Bolzano in South Tyrol, providing speedy transfers to the resorts surrounding the stunning Sella Ronda, just a 60-minute drive from the airport.

Flights will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays from December 13 using the airline’s fleet of 76-seater Dash DHC-8-Q400s aircraft. Prices for a one-way single fare start at £160.

On Sundays, flights will depart Stansted at 14.25 and arrive in Bolzano at 18:00, and on Wednesdays, they will depart at 16.05, arriving in Bolzano at 19.40.

Josef Gostner, SkyAlps President, said:

“SkyAlps’ new London Stansted – Bolzano route will whisk passengers directly to the Dolomites. Until now, those visiting South Tyrol have had to take lengthy, two hour-transfers from major airports such as Verona, Milan, Venice or Innsbruck. The new route provides a quick and convenient solution for reaching the Dolomites, allowing travellers to maximise their time on the slopes.”

The service will run for the winter season until April 14. For further information and to book, visit skyalps.com.

SkyAlps' arrival and service to Bolzano - a new route and airline for the airport - further enhances London Stansted's position as the UK's number one airport for flights to Europe.

London Stansted’s Aviation Director, Simon Gorrighan, said:

“This new route is great news for the airport and perfect for skiers who wish to visit this beautiful region of the Dolomites. London Stansted offers more European destinations than any other UK airport flying to the finest ski areas across the continent, making it the perfect starting point for a wonderful skiing holiday.

“Ryanair, Jet2, easyJet and Tui operate popular ski programs from Stansted. December marks the start of the season for any winter sport enthusiast, so with a host of ski connections on Stansted’s doorstep and snow starting to fall in some resorts already, it’s just a matter of deciding where, when and for how long you want to go.”

London Stansted has Europe covered when it comes to ski connections, making it the perfect getaway for a winter holiday.

Geneva, Chambery, Grenoble, Turin and Zurich are just some of the major ski destinations on Stansted’s doorstep, transporting passengers to resorts such as Chamonix, Courchevel, Verbier, Serre Chevalier and Sestriere in just a short flight.

From the tax-free offerings in Andorra, increasingly popular ski markets in Bulgaria, Finland, Slovenia and Poland, to the traditional charm of Austria, there is a ski connection to suit all budgets from the airport this winter.
