Final call for community groups to apply for £50,000 grant

Local charities, community groups and organisations have just two weeks left to apply for a share of £50,000 through the Stansted Airport Community Fund's flagship grant programme.

Applications for the Fund's Flagship Award close on 30 September, with up to £50,000 available for a project that will deliver lasting benefits for local people.

The funding is open to organisations based within a 10-mile radius of the airport and is aimed at supporting ambitious projects that will make a real difference to local communities.

Last year, Essex Wildlife Trust and Sheering Parish Council each received £25,000 through the scheme. 

Essex Wildlife Trust used the funding to improve access at the Aubrey Buxton Nature Reserve near Stansted Mountfitchet, while Sheering Parish Council replaced the roof of its village hall, helping secure the future of a much used community facility. 

Daniel Turpin, Community Engagement Manager at London Stansted, said: 

“Our Flagship Award is a fantastic opportunity for local organisations to secure funding that can make a real difference to their community, but there are now only a couple of weeks left to apply. We've seen first-hand the impact this funding can have, whether it's improving important community facilities, supporting environmental projects or helping organisations expand what they can offer local people. I'd encourage any group with a strong proposal to get their application before the deadline.”

Successful projects will be announced later this year.
