Jet2.com and Jet2holidays take off at London Stansted Airport

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays celebrated its first ever flights and holidays from London Stansted on Thursday, March 30.

The first Jet2.com flights took off to Alicante (06.50) and Faro (07.30), and were followed by two afternoon flights to Lanzarote (13.50) and Majorca (15.00). The airline will serve 27 destinations from Stansted on a fleet of new Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

The scale of the operation makes London Stansted Jet2.com’s and Jet2holidays’ 4th biggest UK base and its first in southern England, with up to 96 weekly flights at peak season.

The airline has created over 250 jobs in flight and cabin crew, engineering and ground operations roles.

“We’re absolutely delighted to welcome the first Jet2.com passengers to London Stansted as they jet off on the airline’s first ever flights from the airport on brand new aircraft. This is the start of what we believe will be a very successful partnership, providing people from across London and the east of England with a fantastic range of great value, quality holidays and a wide choice of flight-only options to many European hotspots from their local airport. We wish Jet2.com and its customers all the very best for what promises to be an exciting and very popular summer ahead.”
Andrew Cowan, Stansted Airport’s CEO
“We have got off to a flying start in every sense at London Stansted Airport. Customers in the region have been hearing all about Jet2.com and Jet2holidays’ family friendly ethos, great value package holidays and award-winning customer service, and today they finally get to experience all of that. Our formula is proven, having driven phenomenal loyalty and growth in northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland and we are very excited to be bringing this to our new customers across the East of England and in London.

“Although today marks Jet2.com and Jet2holidays becoming a truly national brand, our focus will remain the same as always which is providing our customers with low fares, a family friendly experience, and real package holidays. That proposition is driving strong demand already and we are confident it will make us a resounding success.”
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays
