Just the job – education and employment schemes at London Stansted scoop top award

London Stansted has won a top award for its work in training young people and helping them find jobs at the airport.

The airport picked up the Employer Skills Award in the largest employer category at the South East Local Enterprise Partnership (SELEP) Skills Awards.

The award recognises businesses that are committed to developing skills and employment opportunities for young people.

The airport’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme was highly recognised, in particular its education and community outreach projects.

We are absolutely delighted and hugely honoured to receive this award.  Earning trust is crucial to the long term success of the airport which is why corporate responsibility is one of our most important areas of our work.

“In the last 12 months alone, our award winning education centre - the Aerozone – has gone from strength to strength welcoming over 6000 youngsters from schools and colleges in the region, we have helped almost 800 people find a new job at the airport and announced proposals together with Harlow College for a new £12m new Aviation College technical skills college at the airport, designed to train the next generation of engineers airport employees.”

“We are genuinely committed to ensuring that the business operates in a responsible fashion and is fully engaged in working within the south east to develop a positive and effective sustainability strategy that delivers real value and change to benefit communities.”
