Kemi Badenoch MP officially opens London Stansted’s new domestic arrivals building

London Stansted welcomed local MP, Rt Hon Kemi Badenoch, to the airport on Friday 11 July to officially open its new domestic arrivals building, the first major milestone on its journey to increase capacity and transform the airport experience.

The Conservative MP for Northwest Essex joined airport Managing Director, Gareth Powell, plus colleagues from the airport’s security, customer service and airside operations teams for the celebration.

During the visit Ms Badenoch was updated on other developments relating to London Stansted’s transformation project, including the airport’s on-site solar farm, and the airport’s sustainable growth plan following the recent submission of a planning application to increase the airport’s annual passenger limit up to 51 million over the next 20 years.

If approved, it will enable London Stansted to progress with its plans to invest in the future, and create more jobs and training opportunities and increase the student capacity at Stansted Airport College as well as connecting more people to more destinations.

“The visit was also a fantastic opportunity for Ms Badenoch to meet many of our colleagues from across the airport who work extremely hard to deliver a great experience for the millions of passengers who choose to use Stansted each year.

“We have an exciting and ambitious vision for London Stansted and how we best serve our region, and this great new building is just the first of many fantastic new developments we will deliver over the next few years.”
