King and Queen of Spain arrive

King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain arrived at London Stansted on Tuesday (July 11) at the start of a three-day state visit to the UK.

The King and Queen touched down at the airport around 7pm on-board a Spanish Air Force Airbus A310.

They were greeted on behalf of The Queen by The Viscount Brookeborough, Lord-in-Waiting, London Stansted’s Operations Director John Farrow and the Royal Air Force at the Harrods Aviation VIP terminal.

"It's a great honour for everyone connected with Stansted to host the arrival of the King and Queen of Spain. Visits of this nature always require very detailed planning and rely on excellent teamwork between lots of different organisations and businesses.

“The fact we were able to welcome such flights while at the same time maintaining our normal busy flight operations is testament not only to our proven track record in hosting high-profile flights, but also the airport's excellent layout and high-quality private facilities."
John Farrow, Stansted Airport's Operations Director
