Milestone reached in airfield transformation

London Stansted's transformation project has reached another milestone with the opening of a further four aircraft parking stands.

It takes the total number of new stands opened this year as part of the project to eight.

The echo stand extension, the size of eight football pitches, provides extra capacity on the airfield.

This is the final part of phase 1 of our airfield transformation project which will deliver four stands capable of handling Boeing 737 type aircraft.

We’ve already started work on the next stage which will add a further two stands that will be ready for Summer 2019.

The transformation of London Stansted is one of the largest airport projects currently underway in the UK.

Plans include a new arrivals terminal and the reconfiguration of the existing terminal into a departures only facility.

It also features a revamped retail and restaurant offer, as well as new car parks and airfield infrastructure.
