Mucking in and making a difference! Airport team lends a hand at Daisy May’s Farm

A team from London Stansted’s Resource Scheduling department swapped their usual schedules for spades and paintbrushes as they spent two days volunteering at Daisy May’s Farm in Bishop’s Stortford.

The team rolled up their sleeves to help with essential farm tasks, including cleaning out animal shelters, refreshing water sources, and tidying up the duck ponds to ensure the animals had access to clean, fresh water.

They also took on the challenge of dismantling six goat huts, chopping up the wood to be repurposed for the farm’s needs.

One of the most unforgettable moments came when the team had the chance to witness the birth of a baby lamb, a truly special experience that made their time at the farm even more rewarding.

On the second day, the team got creative with sanding and painting six benches and a lamb shed, helping to brighten up the farm’s facilities for visitors and staff alike.

One of the volunteers from the airport, Laura-Jane Everson, shared her thoughts on the experience:

"It was such a rewarding couple of days. Getting stuck into the farm work was a real team effort, and seeing the impact we could make in such a short time was fantastic. A huge thank you to the amazing team at Daisy May’s Farm for the work they do in caring for their animals and welcoming volunteers.”

Rachel Berry from Daisy May’s Farm added:

"We were very grateful to receive the help of a team of volunteers this week, from Stansted Airport. They were tasked with the job of sprucing up the farm for its spring visitors and achieved a good amount of work over the two days. Not only did they demolish, paint and tidy but they also had their fair share of time assisting with the animals. At this time of year there is lots going on and we were pleased to be able to show them a good variety of what goes on down at the farm."
