National Express retains contract to operate coach services
National Express has successfully retained its contract to operate coach services to and from London Stansted, following a competitive tender process conducted by Manchester Airports Group (MAG).
This new agreement ensures that National Express will continue providing high-frequency services connecting the airport with over 20 major London locations and key regional destinations, including Birmingham, Cambridge, Leicester, Luton, Norwich, Milton Keynes, and Oxford.
National Express has been operating coach services to the airport since 2003, and under the new contract, the network will expand with the introduction of new routes and increased service frequencies, providing even more travel options for passengers.

National Express operates over 100 daily services to London Stansted, with travel times to central London starting from 45 minutes on the A8 service. Passengers can enjoy modern coaches with reclining leather seats, free Wi-Fi on selected routes, USB charging, and a luggage allowance of up to 20kg. Fares start at £7.50 one-way.
As part of its commitment to sustainability, National Express successfully trialled the Yutong GTW-14 electric coach on high-frequency routes to London Stansted in 2024, aligning with airport’s sustainability ambitions and reducing the environmental impact of transport services.
