Sky’s the limit as Aerozone celebrates 25,000th young visitor
London Stansted’s Aerozone education centre has hit a major milestone, welcoming its 25,000th young visitor since opening in 2015.
The milestone was celebrated with a special aviation-themed event for 30 excited pupils from Forest Hall School in Stansted Mountfitchet, who got a hands-on look at how airports work.
Alex Smith, Education Manager at London Stansted, said:
"Seeing young people's faces light up when they learn about aviation is what makes this job special. We're not just teaching them about planes but we're opening their eyes to future careers they might never have considered."
The Aerozone has proven so popular with local schools that it is now fully booked until next summer. The centre offers children aged 4 to 18 the chance to try aviation-themed science and engineering activities, while learning about how a busy international airport operates behind the scenes.
Jennifer Crossling, Senior Education and Employment Manager at London Stansted, said:
"This isn't just about reaching a big number. It’s about the thousands of young people who’ve discovered new possibilities here. Some might become pilots, engineers, or air traffic controllers, others might invent something that changes how we fly."
The centre’s success is a key part of London Stansted’s wider commitment to supporting education and skills in the local community and inspiring the next generation of aviation professionals.

London Stansted is committed to shaping the next generation of aviation professionals through three key education and skills initiatives.
Aerozone Education Centre offers children between 4 and 18 the chance to explore aviation and transport through fun, hands-on workshops. Located on the airport, Aerozone sparks interest in STEM subjects while introducing students to the wide range of career opportunities in aviation.
Stansted Airport Employment and Skills Academy, managed by London Stansted and delivered in partnership with Harlow College, serves as a one-stop shop for job seekers. It provides a tailored aviation training programme, equipping local people with the skills they need to secure employment with one of the 200+ employers based at the airport.
Stansted Airport College, in partnership with Harlow College, is the only UK college based directly on an airport campus. Offering specialised courses in aviation the college helps students gain industry-relevant qualifications and hands-on experience, preparing them for careers in the aviation sector.
Together, these initiatives offer valuable opportunities for young people to gain the skills, knowledge, and experience they need for a successful career in aviation, helping build a skilled workforce for the future.
