London Stansted celebrates inaugural Pobeda Airlines flight ‘tutu’ Saint Petersburg
Passengers were treated to ballet on the tarmac at London Stansted Airport today, as Saint Petersburg became the newest destination in the airport’s repertoire.
In a nod to the city’s renowned cultural heritage, crew, airport staff and dancers came together to mark the inaugural Pobeda Airlines flight to Russia’s second largest city.
The Russian low-cost carrier is part of the Aeroflot Group, and the service connects Saint Petersburg with London Stansted Airport four-times a week using one of the airline’s Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft.
Passengers can jeté off to the culturally-rich city for as little as £35 one-way, with fares available to book at www.pobeda.aero/en.
While Saint Petersburg is the home to some of the grandest and oldest ballet companies in the world, the dancers showing their skills at London Stansted hail from Cambridge University’s Ballet Club. Charlotte Schoonman and Lucy Gardner showed their skills were ‘en pointe’, demonstrating traditional ballet moves on the apron next to the Pobeda aircraft.
Passengers were also given a small Russian treat - chocolate-covered marshmallows from St Petersburg - as they boarded the flight.
